Freshfields Lawyers’ Lunch Review

In March, a number of Aspiring Solicitors members attended the first Aspiring Solicitors Lawyers’ Lunch at Freshfields.  Head of graduate recruitment, Elizabeth Cope commented:

“We were delighted to host the first Lawyers’ Lunch with Aspiring Solicitors.  It was great to meet some really bright, motivated students from a broad range of universities, and there was plenty of interesting conversation enjoyed over lunch with some of our partners, associates and trainees.  Having spent some time with us, we hope that the students who attended now feel more confident about making their training contract applications to the firm in due course.”

The attendees were also full of positive comments:

“I consider myself to be from an underrepresented group in the legal profession and have sometimes found it challenging to access important information and meet members of the profession. Today has confirmed that both Aspiring Solicitors and Freshfields are truly committed to increasing diversity and recognise that talent is not dependent on a person¹s background or where they have studied, but their determination and desire to succeed.”

“The lunch far excelled my expectations as to how much I could learn about the firm within the two hour time slot.  I have attended Open Days at other large firms however the Lawyers’ Lunch offers something special, a unique opportunity to really learn about a firm in a relaxed and comfortable environment.”

“I never thought I would get anywhere near a magic circle law firm, but the lunch yesterday just proved to me that it is more accessible than I first thought. I learnt that the solicitors of Freshfields are friendly, encouraging and most of all, normal people! After seeing the type of trainee’s that have been successful in obtaining a place at Freshfields, who are very much enjoying their experience, I will most definitely be applying.”
