Profile:

I am state educated and am on track to becoming the first lawyer in my family. Having also not completed a law degree meant that I had to undertake my own research; this was overwhelming process with a myriad of choices and reams of information out there. Navigating these challenges  only strengthened my resolve and skillset, and can be an opportunity for those who find themselves in a similar position. It is the attitude of growing through difficulties which has shaped my path the most.

I have been fortunate to have worked on a myriad of scales from start-up to national entities alongside my education journey. Through this I have brushed a collection of sectors from recruitment and education all the way to consulting and law. Each and every step was taken through contacts I had built and off the back of countless applications . All of this was done with the objectives of collecting transferable skills and help understand what exactly I really wanted to do in the future.

Although lack of contacts in the legal profession can be daunting it gives the you the opportunity to reach out to new people and attend events you never thought you might want to attend to grow your understanding and suitability for law. This is the single best piece of advice I would give to anyone, take the opportunities and reach out because that will make you the best lawyer you can be.

I hope that my journey can help others and increase diversity in the legal sector; after all this is what strengthens a team, the complementary differences that come together to be greater than simply the sum of the parts.
