Aspiring Solicitors is delighted to promote “Wheels For Change”- an initiative created by Barclays Legal. It is a 100 kilometre cycle for UNICEF to help young people in Africa get started in business. It’s part of the Barclays commitment to help 5 million young people improve their futures. There are 7 events on 24 May – all starting at Premier league football stadia/training grounds. For further details or to get involved, please click here. This is a great opportunity not only to give back to society, but also to get to meet some of the hundreds of Barclays lawyers! A win-win for aspiring solicitors!
Almost a quarter of the world’s young people are unemployed and the problem is getting worse. Wheels for Change, in aid of UNICEF and supported by Barclays, understands how vital young people are to our economies and societies. They are the future and by supporting these disadvantaged young people into employment, we are helping them to overcome poverty now, building stronger economies and communities for tomorrow.
Funds raised through Wheels for Change will build on the Barclays and UNICEF Building Young Futures programme. The global partnership, which began in 2008, provides disadvantaged young people with the employability, enterprise and financial skills they need to find work, or set up their own small business.
Wheels for Change will help take this a step further, with UNICEF using the funds raised to provide start-up grants to young people who have gone through the Building Young Futures programme and need financial support to start up their own small business. UNICEF is funded entirely by the voluntary contributions of individuals, businesses, foundations, and governments.
