Profile:

I am a Partner in the Corporate Finance team at Pinsent Masons.

I am from Liverpool and studied Classics and Modern Languages at Oxford University. I was the first person in my family to go to University, so to get in to Oxford (particularly with an accent like mine!) was a pleasant surprise. I moved from there to BPP, and then on to become a lawyer in the City.

When I was growing up, I never thought it was a realistic goal to work in the City, not least because I felt as though I was put into certain categories because of my accent, ethnic origin and family background. I often reflect that it would have been great to be able to have someone who had ‘been there, done that’ to guide me and give me advice about my potential career.

I believe that diversity in every profession is important because people from different backgrounds have different experiences and skills to offer. The more diverse a profession, the better equipped it will be to address the needs of broader range of people.
