I am a partner in the commercial litigation group at Stephenson Harwood LLP. I focus on financial litigation, civil fraud and sanctions and I act for a range of clients including banks, professional trustees, insolvency practitioners and high net worth individuals.

I went to local state school in the North East of England and then on to St John’s College, Cambridge (but only after having been rejected on two previous occasions – there’s a story there!). I am the first person in my family to join a profession and the first to work in the City.

I joined Stephenson Harwood in 1994 as a trainee and have been here ever since, “climbing the ranks”. I became a partner in 2003. The role has changed massively during the period that I have been in the profession and I now spend a lot of my day on a range of matters including management, strategy, training and business development – in addition to fee earning. I am living proof that you can have a “quirky” northern accent, be born without a silver spoon and “be you” whilst being successful at an international law firm.

I am passionate about belonging, inclusion and diversity. I was Stephenson Harwood’s first diversity champion and continued in the role for 7 years. I am partner sponsor for the firm’s SHARED (ethnicity) and social mobility networks and I remain an active member of the gender equality network.

I am happy to share my experience and answer any questions that you might have.
