Future trainee solicitor | Pinsent Masons

I am a future trainee at Pinsent Masons, currently awaiting the start of my LPC in 2020. I grew up in Singapore and moved to the UK in 2016 to study law at the University of Birmingham. Since then I have undertaken work placement opportunities in both countries, before eventually securing a vacation scheme and subsequent training contract with Pinsent Masons in the UK. Aspiring Solicitors was a great help to me in this journey, both by equipping me with useful knowledge about navigating legal recruitment processes as well as providing me with valuable networking opportunities through bespoke open days aimed at promoting diversity.
As an international student, I understand how challenging the prospect of living, studying and working away from home can be. I know that the legal profession may seem inaccessible, perhaps due to how competitive the recruitment process can be, or even because of one’s preconceived notions about who does or does not have the potential to become a solicitor. However, I believe great solicitors can come from any background. Diversity in the legal profession allows for more equal opportunities, as well as access to a larger variety of strengths and perspectives that can enhance the capabilities of any legal team.
My hope is that I can help others find their way into law by showing them that this is a profession that rewards talent and commitment, regardless of where one comes from. If I can be of any help in helping you find your way into the legal profession, please do not hesitate to get in touch!
