Trainee Solicitor | TLT
- State School educated
- First Generation University
I am a trainee solicitor at TLT LLP, based in the Manchester office. My first seat was in Banking and Restructuring and I am currently in the middle of my second seat, Regulatory.
I was the first person in my family to obtain a degree, graduating from Lancaster University with a first class honours LLB. Upon graduating, I worked as a paralegal in the commercial litigation department of a local, rural law firm in Lancaster. I moved back home to Manchester in April 2014, where I started work as a paralegal at DWF LLP in their commercial, regulatory and property litigation departments. In October 2015, I joined TLT as a paralegal working in their real estate financial services department whilst completing my LPC part time at BPP University (which was tough!).
I am a TLT “Deaf Champion”, having completed The Ear Foundation Deaf Awareness Training – which was a very thought-provoking training exercise. I am also a mentor at Lancaster University, supporting and assisting my mentees with their career plans.
Since starting my training contract in September 2017, I have been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, a lifelong autoimmune condition which affects every aspect of my life. Although it can be challenging to effectively manage such a condition alongside the demands of a legal career, it is by no means impossible. I am happy to answer any questions you may have on how to juggle a chronic condition with a career as a solicitor.
Having recently gone through the application process, I understand how difficult it can be. As an ambassador, I am here to help you succeed and realise your career ambitions.
