Trainee Solicitor | PwC
- State School Educated
- First Generation Lawyer
I started as a trainee at PwC in September 2017 and really enjoy the opportunity to work collaboratively alongside the diverse range of people from various professions, backgrounds and cultures.
I attended a state school in Rotherham where my A levels were mostly science based, following which I went on to complete my law degree at Newcastle University. During my time at university, I was unsure whether a career in law was the right choice. For me the profession seemed like an ‘Old Boys Club’, with outdated attitudes and closed circles. I did not have any connections to the industry to seek advice from, nor to help me obtain experience.
I signed up to Aspiring Solicitors whilst completing my LPC, and received invaluable advice from people who have had similar thoughts and experiences as myself. Diversity in the legal profession is becoming a norm and the support network available lowers barriers to access.
It is really gratifying that I can get involved in providing this support from the other side in order to help in expanding opportunities to those who do not fit the traditional norms of a lawyer, and further open up the profession to diversity.
