Profile:

I attended a state school, and was the first member of my family to attend university; I studied Law at Bournemouth University and achieved a 2:1. Shortly after graduating, I joined a national firm as an Administrator whilst applying for Paralegal positions and training contracts. I then started my legal career as a Paralegal within the Construction team, before becoming a Trainee Legal Executive in 2018, and qualifying as a Chartered Legal Executive in 2022 and qualifying as a Solicitor in 2024.

I had been applying for training contracts during university and after graduation, but thought that the reason my applications were unsuccessful was because I was at a disadvantage compared to other applicants who had higher grades and better experience. As a result, I was regularly told that I was coming ‘a very close second’ when applying for these roles. This had a detrimental impact on my confidence, as I felt that I wasn’t ‘good enough’ to become a Solicitor. Furthermore, the fact that I was taking an alternative route to qualification made me feel like I had to do that bit extra to prove myself to my seniors and peers, despite ultimately ending up at the same destination.

I have first-hand experience of the difficulties that law students face in such a competitive industry. My journey has been challenging and there have been instances where I have been tempted to give up on my dream because I felt that becoming a Solicitor ‘wasn’t for the likes of me’.

As part of my ambition to succeed, I decided to take back control of my career and enrol on the CILEx Graduate Fast-Track Diploma. I graduated from the LPC in 2023 and cross-qualified shortly afterwards, making me the first member of my family to become a Solicitor.

I appreciate how difficult it can be for law students to ‘get their foot in the door’ of the legal profession, which is why I am passionate about supporting aspiring solicitors. No student should feel as though they don’t stand a chance; if you are motivated, charismatic and have the drive to succeed, there’s no reason why you can’t enter the legal profession.

I would be delighted to assist with CV/applications or interview preparation. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any queries; I’m happy to help in any way I can!
