- First generation graduate/lawyer
Rachel secured her Training Contract with Hogan Lovells whilst on the Spring Vacation Scheme in her final year at University. Rachel is originally from Middlesbrough and has a distinct North-East accent. She is first generation to study at college, let alone University and certainly first generation lawyer. She is LGBT, was state school educated and attended a Non-Russell Group University.
Rachel graduated from the University of Hull in July 2016 with a first-class LLB and in fact, was awarded the best Law Degree of the year. Rachel then spent 6 months at Addleshaw Goddard as a paralegal. Rachel sat in Real Estate (Disputes), Pensions, Debt Capital Markets (Securitisation) and spent 6 months on secondment with Lloyd’s Banking Group sitting in the consumer finance team. Rachel qualified into the Real Estate (Disputes) team in February 2020.
Rachel is well aware of the potential barriers that students face when thinking about entering the legal profession and is very happy to answer any questions about her journey so far.
