I am a trainee solicitor at Pinsent Masons (due for admission in 2021). I came to the UK to study law at Durham University and after graduating, worked as a paralegal in Pinsent Masons’ Qatar office for 2.5 years. The firm offered me a training contract whilst I was paralegalling and I returned to the UK to complete the LPC MSc course at the University of Law before starting my training contract in 2019.
Born and raised as a Malaysian national of Chinese descent, I went to a state primary school in my hometown in Malaysia and did my IGCSEs at an international school in Thailand. As the first in my family to pursue law and with the culture shock of coming to an alien (and very cold) new country, I was very aware of the new environment I was in and remember how daunting the competitive application process for vacation schemes and training contracts was. I participated in many legal events and related extra-curricular activities to get more information and exposure to the legal industry and would have really appreciated the support and resources an organisation like Aspiring Solicitors provides.
I currently mentor 2 individuals (including a student) and would be very happy to answer any questions about the application process or about a career in law.
