Nihaal is a Senior Solicitor in the Finance department of Travers Smith LLP. His experience includes advising sponsors and debt funds on domestic and cross-border leveraged finance acquisitions and investment holdings in a range of industry sectors. Nihaal also advises financial institutions, portfolio companies and corporate borrowers on their debt facilities across the capital structure. Clients whom Nihaal has represented include: 3i, Bridgepoint, Exponent, Horizon Capital, Muzinich, Silicon Valley Bank, Investec and Macquarie. He also sits on the India Group Committee in Travers Smith and has authored articles which have been published in Butterworths Journal of International Banking and Financial Law.

Nihaal spent 6-months on secondment as Senior Legal Counsel to Bridgepoint Credit and has previously spent 6-months on secondment as Legal Counsel in the corporate and acquisition finance department of Investec. He was principally involved in credit committees and negotiating term sheets for competitive bids, and he advised on deal structuring and security packages in mid-market private equity transactions.

Nihaal read Law at the University of Warwick and achieved a Master of Laws with distinction at the University of Law. He has spent 6-months working in leading Indian corporate law firms in Mumbai and New Delhi from which he has developed strong relationships within India. Nihaal was elected Vice-Chairman of City Hindus Network, a 3,000-member strong networking organisation within London and continues to work closely with its advisory board members which include Lord Jitesh Gadhia and Deutsche Bank treasurer, Dixit Joshi. Nihaal also serves as the UK Director of global microfinance charity, Shanti Life, and works with the International Committee of The Law Society in relation to its India strategy. He has been recognised as one of the ’35 under 35′ Young Leaders in fostering UK-Indo relations.
