Profile:
My journey into law began while attending a state school in the North East of Scotland. The school had no uniform, no school bell, no “house” or “prefect” system and no formal sports clubs or societies. There was only a couple of us considering law as a career path and it was one we very much had to figure out on our own. I went on to study Scots and English law at the University of Aberdeen, before completing my postgrad at the University of Edinburgh. Following studies, I trained at Addleshaw Goddard in real estate, corporate, finance and banking between our Edinburgh and Oman offices, before joining the corporate team as an associate based in Edinburgh.
The profession has come on leaps and bounds from the traditional exclusive club it used to be, and everyone is much better off for it. A greater diversity of backgrounds and perspectives has created a more understanding profession – more understanding of each other and more understanding of our clients. By continuing to improve diversity in the profession, firms will be better equipped to understand client needs and provide support in the best way possible.
