I am an associate in the Contentious Construction team at Dentons, specialising in all forms of dispute resolution relating to construction, infrastructure, energy and similar projects. I trained at Dentons (undertaking seats in Property Litigation, Contentious Construction, Dispute Resolution and Non-Contentious Construction) and qualified in September 2015.
I attended a state school where I opted to study A-level subjects that are typically classed as ‘non-academic’ (psychology, sociology, health and social care and theatre studies). Had I known when I picked those subjects that I would have liked to be a lawyer, I may have chosen different topics – but not many people are lucky enough to know at 16 what they want to do as a career. I studied law at the University of Reading and the LPC at College of Law, Birmingham. I worked part-time throughout my degree and LPC. I was part of the first generation in my family to go to university and was the first in my family to enter the legal profession.
I am passionate about diversity and have been an active member of Dentons’ UK LGBT network, GLOW, for the past two years. I am openly bisexual and am keen to increase bisexual representation within the legal profession. I am also a committee member of Dentons’ Global LGBT+ network, Dentons’ black professional network and an inter-company LGBT network in Milton Keynes (known as RoundabOUT).
The legal profession in the UK should be representative of the country as a whole. Please feel free to get in touch if you think I might be able to help with any questions or pleas for advice!
