My Law Firm

Profile:

I am the first in my family to go to university and pursue a legal career, so I inevitably had lots of questions but few answers. Fortunately, Aspiring Solicitors already had a large presence at QMUL and were more than happy to help me. Many of their workshops and sessions on authenticity and self-awareness have and continue to serve me well. As I became more involved with Aspiring Solicitors, it became obvious how competitive entry into commercial law is. I struggled for 5 years with rejections at various stages of the application process, but the support from Aspiring Solicitors was unwavering. Eventually, after my 4th attempt, I reached the final of the Commercial Awareness Competition and secured a vacation scheme and later a training contract with Dechert.

I am keen to put my hand back down the ladder and help as many Aspiring Solicitors members as possible with their journey into commercial law. As Abraham Maslow once said, ‘if all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail’, and I believe that sums up the current state of the legal profession. What is required are more “tools” with diverse backgrounds and viewpoints.
