Future trainee solicitor | BCLP
- State school educated
- Ethnic minority
I studied law at the University of Exeter where I graduated in 2017. I accepted a training contract with BCLP in June 2019 and will start in March 2021, upon completion of the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law in Moorgate.
Whilst applying for training contracts I undertook various different legal and non-legal roles. These included working in-house as a legal assistant, as a sales advisor at a Property Developer and as a Saturday assistant at an Estate Agents. In 2018 I was also part of the Aspire programme which proved invaluable in providing me with access to the legal profession through open days and mentoring.
As a black man who grew up in South London, I understand the barriers faced by minorities in trying to enter the legal profession. My journey into the legal profession has not been without challenges and I would not be where I am without Aspiring Solicitors whose support and guidance was invaluable in helping me to secure a training contract.
As such I am very proud to be a Professional Ambassador and strongly support increasing diversity in the legal profession. I am more than happy to speak to anyone about my experiences as part of AS or on the Aspire programme, alternatively I am happy to speak generally about applications, interviews or vacation schemes. Please do not hesitate to reach out.
