My diversity networks

Profile:

I was appointed as the firm’s new and first female Chair in 2021. After completing my law degree at King’s College London, I started my career at ‘magic circle’ law firm Slaughter and May, working with well-known names including British Gas, British Steel and British Airways. I joined Blake Morgan in 1994 and was promoted to partner in 1997, while on maternity leave.

Since then, I have focused on setting up, building and leading a specialist Banking and Finance practice within the firm. I led the development of Blake Morgan’s gender strategy, part of the firm’s wider initiatives spearheading the advancement of diversity and inclusion within the business.

As Chair of Blake Morgan and of our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Board, I want to make sure that we, as a firm, ensure that everyone gets the input and opportunity that they need to fulfil their potential. What we need and what we can give is different in every case – the secret to being a great employer is to ensure that we recognise the value of what is offered and are willing to provide what is needed to make the most of it.

In our profession the fight for talent is at its most fierce – and we must find ways to nurture and support talent wherever and in whomever we find it. In short, I want Blake Morgan to be a firm that promotes aspiration for all, seeks to overcome challenges posed by the needs of diverse members of our community and gives everyone a voice to drive change in our organisation.
