Law School Attended
Future Trainee Solicitor | Allen & Overy
I’m a Future Trainee at Allen & Overy and currently on the accelerated LPC LLM at BPP, having finished the GDL earlier this year. As a gay man from a town in Essex, state school educated and the first in my family to attend university, I struggled to come across similar people whilst applying to firms so am more than happy to help other students in a similar position.
As the first Non-Law President of a student Law Society in the UK, I was fortunate enough to gain a unique insight into the world of commercial law and meet many firms along the way. Whilst President, the society was awarded ‘Best Law Society in the UK’ at the Student Law Society Awards in London, as well as ‘Best Society President’ at the Warwick SU Society Awards. We introduced the society’s first ‘Diversity Series’ and InterVarsity Event with Bristol Law Club and worked closely with Aspiring Solicitors throughout the year.
I’m an active member of LGBT networks across London, including Allen & Overy’s ‘A&Out’ network (as a future trainee) and was part of the British LGBT Awards ‘Youth Steering Council’ last year. I also volunteer as a role model for a charity called ‘Diversity Role Models’ and deliver workshops in schools across the UK in the hope of preventing homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying in classrooms. I’ve seen how beneficial AS’s Professional Ambassador network is for students hoping to gain a place at their dream firm and speak at diversity events, including Aspiring Solicitor’s ‘AS Pride Event’ for the past couple of years to increase the number of diverse students entering the legal profession.
