- First generation lawyer
I am a senior associate in the Restructuring and Insolvency Group of Dentons, specialising in all areas of contentious insolvency work (including major commercial litigation). I also have significant experience in restructuring and non-contentious insolvency work. I have advised insolvency practitioners, lenders, corporates and directors in relation to insolvency issues in business sectors including real estate, retail, leisure, construction, hotels, telecommunications, transport, automotive and sport. During my career I have undertaken two client secondments at the “sharp end” of restructuring and insolvency work, which gave me some valuable insight into what clients really want from their legal advisors.
I had a fairly conventional route into legal practice having obtained a law degree from Birmingham University, but was the first person in my family to study at university, let alone enter into a legal career, so I certainly had no preconceptions about what was involved! Having gone through that experience without being able to call on the kind of advice offered by Aspiring Solicitors, I am keen to help people thinking of entering the profession or already embarking on that journey, whatever their background or prior knowledge of the legal world.
