Profile:

I began studying a law degree at SOAS University back in 2017, with no idea if I even wanted to be a lawyer. I had no professional connections at all, let alone ones in the legal field. I attended AS events throughout my time at university which helped me build my confidence and appreciation of the corporate legal world. Having graduated in the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, I worked in retail, e commerce and logistics before securing a training contract with Trowers & Hamlins in 2022, a firm that truly celebrates individuality and difference.

I am a AS mentor because I would want to help and supports those who come from non-traditional backgrounds to break into the legal industry. As someone who was born in the Middle East and lived in a council estate in London, I know first-hand how challenging it is to secure any type of legal work experience without connections or a network to learn from. I wish to empower others from similar backgrounds to pursue a career in law with confidence and belief in themselves. AS is a truly amazing platform that has helped and inspired diverse talent to pursue careers in law. I benefited immensely from participating in the Commercial Awareness Competition and well as other application workshop events and seminars.

Diversity and inclusion are important to me – I understand the struggle of navigating the application process, particularly if you’ve not had a privileged upbringing and not to mention the imposter syndrome and added sense of self-doubt that comes with that.

I am happy to answer any questions about starting a career in law and share my thoughts about diversity and inclusion in the legal industry more broadly.
