Future trainee solicitor | Pinsent Masons
- Career changer
- Non law degree
- First generation to go to university
I graduated from the University of St Andrews in 2007 with a degree in Russian and Spanish. I moved straight to Moscow and worked in various roles before deciding to specialise in Marketing and securing a junior management role at Imperial Brands plc in 2012. I worked in Moscow for ten years in total, four of which were with Imperial, prior to relocating back to the UK in 2016 to their global headquarters in Bristol, where I worked as a Shopper and Consumer Research Manager.
In 2018 I decided to leave Imperial Brands and change career to law. This decision was largely influenced by the fact that I want to bring together my knowledge of Russian and the Russian market with an intellectually challenging career so law seemed the perfect choice! Since then, I have undertaken the GDL at The University of Law in Bristol, pro-bono roles with Support Through Court and Bristol Law Centre and secured a training contract with Pinsent Masons LLP in London. I am currently undertaking the LPC in Bristol and will work for a year as a paralegal prior to starting my training contract in September 2021.
I have always been passionate about diversity and, having worked in multi-cultural teams and spending a substantial amount of time working and living abroad, I appreciate that different backgrounds and opinions enhance results in any business. I am pleased to see the steps that are being made in law to diversify the profession and I am keen to actively participate in diversity committees and programmes throughout my legal career.
