Profile:

I am currently an In-house trainee at Network Rail Infrastructure Limited and loving every moment, however it has been a long journey to get here. My legal career started In an ABS as a “legal assistant”, my time was largely devoted to admin. I soon realised that this was not the place where I was going to successfully develop my career, so I decided to accept a role as a receptionist in the branch of a small-medium regional firm. In just under two years I progressed from a receptionist to a conveyancing assistant and finally an Employment paralegal.

For me employment just clicked, I loved every moment of it and was regularly attending networking events and staying active on Linked-in in an attempt to draw in plenty of work. For me I have always found Linked-in an incredibly useful career tool, not only in building confidence but also to find exciting roles. It was through Linked-in that I found my next role (that bar my training contract was the best move I ever made) as an Employment Paralegal at Wright Hassall “WH”. Having suffered a slight confidence blip at my previous employers and becoming close to walking away from the profession in its entirety, the mentorship I received at WH from one, senior associate (now partner) was life changing. This provided me with the confidence to believe in myself again and actively pursue Training Contract opportunities. I will be forever grateful for this Mentor.

I was then successful in obtaining my current role at Network Rail as a Trainee Solicitor (finally) which I started in September 2018. Training in house has been a fantastic eye-opening experience, that provides such a wide scope of work over multiple different practice areas Tasks have not been limited to just legal work, I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to arrange the Legal teams bi-annual conference. I am very much looking forward to progressing my career further within Network Rail.
