- State school educated
- First generation lawyer
I attended my local comprehensive school and studied the international baccalaureate at sixth form, as I wanted to continue with a broad range of subjects. My decision to study law at the University of Birmingham was driven more by an interest in legal and political theory than an intention to become a solicitor.
Whilst studying, I completed various work placements and volunteered at the Free Representation Unit. Each experience helped me determine which areas of law I was interested in and gave me an understanding of the day-to-day realities of practicing law in different sectors.
After graduating, I spent a year working in marketing and travelling in South East Asia. I then completed the LPC in London and applied for paralegal roles at various media companies. I worked in-house at one of the ‘Big Three’ record labels before securing a vacation scheme and subsequently a training contract at Bird & Bird.
As I am the only solicitor in my family, I understand that initially it can be hard to develop contacts in the legal sector so I am very happy to answer any questions you may have.
