My diversity networks

Profile:

I was born in Liverpool, but I grew up in Dundee a city in the northeast of Scotland. I studied Law at Newcastle University and graduated in 2015. I completed my LPC at the University of Law in Manchester in 2016. I subsequently worked for the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO), investigating complaints made by members of the public against government bodies such as NHS Trusts and the DVLA. During my time at PHSO, I was part of the Diversity Working Group and was involved in helping formulate plans on how to improve diversity and equality in the organisation.

I started my training contract with Squire Patton Boggs (SPB) in the firm’s Manchester office in September 2020 and completed my training in August 2022. I undertook 4-month seats in our Environment, Safety and Health (ESH), Commercial Litigation, Tax, IP and Commercial, and Banking departments. I also completed a secondment at Princes Group, an international food and drinks group, based in their Liverpool HQ. I qualified into the firm’s Commercial Litigation team in September 2022.

Since joining SPB, I co-founded the firm’s Manchester Multicultural Resource Group. The purpose of the group is to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the firm and encourage the continued increase in the diversity of the firm’s workforce. We do this in several ways including hosting events which raises awareness about people from different backgrounds.

As someone from an ethnic minority background that is traditionally underrepresented in the legal sector, I am passionate about helping aspiring solicitors from underrepresented groups enter the legal profession as well as making the legal profession more accessible.
