Trainee Solicitor | Michelmores LLP
- Non-Russell Group university
- State school educated
- First generation lawyer
I am currently a trainee solicitor at Michelmores LLP and am due to qualify as a solicitor in September 2019. Over the course of my training contract I have undertaken seats in Transactional Real Estate, Corporate, Construction & Engineering and Education.
I graduated from the University of Essex in 2016, having studied Law (including a year abroad at Charles IV University in Prague). I completed the LPC LLM in Professional Legal Practice at The University of Law in 2017.
I am passionate about diversification of people in the legal profession. Being state-schooled and having studied at a non Russell Group university, I encountered apprehensions that I would not be “cut out” for a career at a top commercial law firm. I also feared that opportunities would not be so frequently available, as I did not know anyone else working as a lawyer and had very few personal contacts in the industry. I strongly believe that a person’s background, circumstances or “who they know” should not negatively impact their capacity to get a training contract, or any other role in law.
