Law School Attended
Future Trainee Solicitor | DAC Beachcroft
- Ethnic minority
- Non-law degree
I am currently studying the Legal Practice Course at BPP.
I graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2019 where I studied philosophy. I completed the Graduate Diploma in Law at Nottingham Law School in June 2020. I start my training contract at DAC Beachcroft in the London Office in September 2021.
One of the things which I have realised more and more is how diversity is a strength. There are definitely structural barriers which we all face related to our background, race, gender or disability. However, our ability to be resilient despite these structural barriers is what makes us unique. For example, I have struggled with understanding my own identity in recent years. I have written a blog to illustrate my experiences with racism and struggles with dyslexia and dyspraxia. Writing this blog has helped me to become more confident talking about my struggles and become more accepting of who I am. I believe that really trying to showcase how this has formed my personality helped my training contract applications, and why I was fortunate enough to receive a training contract offer from DAC Beachcroft. Using the fact I was a non-law student too really allowed me to show how my philosophy degree influenced the way I think. My biggest mistake was trying to hide my differences initially when I was writing my training contract applications, when these things helped me stand out and find a firm which would fit me best.
Ultimately, use your diversity as an asset and you will eventually find the right firm for you. If you have any questions, I am more than happy to answer any of them.
