Encouraging applicants from a very wide and diverse pool is key to business development. Every person coming to the legal profession from a non-stereotypical background brings with them a different way of thinking, different characteristics and different abilities into the workplace. This harbours growth not only on an individual basis, but holistically across any given company.
Diversity at the application stage increases the possibility of snapping up the very best talent, especially where those from diverse backgrounds wouldn’t ordinarily apply to professions perceived as being very un-diverse (the legal profession for example).
