Profile:

I graduated from Queen Mary, University of London in History and Politics in 2013, and self-funded the GDL immediately afterwards. Shortly after beginning work in recruitment I was lucky enough to receive two training contract offers following summer assessment centres. I studied the Legal Practice Course at The University of Law between September 2016 to September 2017 and began my training contract at DLA Piper straight afterwards.

I didn’t decide to pursue a career in law until after my graduation from Queen Mary, and so Aspiring Solicitors provided an invaluable insight into the legal sector for me. Alongside work experience in some local firms, events such as the Lawyers’ Lunches helped me to decide the sort of firm I was suited to, and Gemma’s application and assessment centre tips proved completely invaluable when it came to making my training contract applications.

I currently work in legal recruitment, which has really made clear to me how high the levels of competition are for commercial law training contracts. I’m keen to share my experiences and advice with any person looking to start a career in commercial law, and would encourage anyone to make the most of Aspiring Solicitors!
