Law School Attended
Trainee Solicitor | Clyde & Co
- State school educated
- First generation lawyer
- LGBT (gay)
I am recent law graduate from the University of East Anglia and began the LPC in 2016 before my training my training contract commenced at Clyde & Co in 2017.
For me, my biggest hurdle to overcome was my own self-confidence. When I considered my background I had doubts of the reality of achieving my aspiration of working in the City as I never seemed to meet someone like me at events with law firms. As a first generation graduate and lawyer I had no connections to, or knowledge of, the profession and felt like an ‘outsider’. Consequently, I became fixated on the barriers to the profession and, as I received more and more rejections, became somewhat disenchanted. Working with Aspiring Solicitors made me realise just how achievable my aspirations were and offered fantastic support to build and develop my confidence, refine and improve applications and, ultimately, attain a training contract.
I know and appreciate the struggles applicants face and want to reassure each and every one of you that you will get there and should never give up. Rejection, annoyingly, is all part of the process but with determination you can make it happen!
